WOOD Flash – Air Astana Group: places order for 25+25 A320neo family aircraft

Air Astana Group has signed a MoU for up to 50 Airbus A320neo family aircraft – the biggest order in its history. The agreement covers 25 firm aircraft and 25 purchase options. The order spans both the A320neo and A321neo models, with the first deliveries scheduled for 2031E. This follows the recently-announced agreement to purchase 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners (please see our flash note for further details). The order paves the way for the continued growth of the business, and marks yet another step away from reliance on securing aircraft via lessors and a shift to buying directly from OEMs. We may see net PDP outflows between 2029-32E, which could be substantial. That said, we do not expect a material impact on the near-term financials.
