- The ECC is expected to grant approval for gas price increases across the board (excluding protected consumers). The hikes range from 5% to 193%, with a majority of the category slabs experiencing increases of 80% or more.
- However, the domestic manufacturing sector is expected to face the brunt of the said hikes as price increases for most industries (ex-fertilizers) range between 25%-193%.
- Tariffs for non-protected residential consumers are expected to see increases ranging from 50% to 136%, depending on the respective consumption slabs.
- Gas-heavy E&P companies have struggled greatly amidst past political emphasis on minimizing the impact of international commodity and currency fluctuations onto domestic consumers.
