Q118 - Strong performance

Kohl's Q1 EPS was $0.64 vs consensus $0.50, with a beat across all metrics. The strong gross margin and inventory performance seen in the biggest department stores indicates a much healthier state of the sector compared to prior years. FY guidance is also raised, albeit slightly less than the Q1 beat. Nevertheless, raising guidance this early in the year indicates strong confidence in trends.
