EPS beats, Flight 1380 weighs on Q2 guidance

Q118 EPS of $0.75 (+29% YoY) was $0.02/$0.01 ahead of AE/consensus, with revenues ~2%/1% below. However, despite a strong Q1, attention will likely shift to very weak Q2 guidance, with LUV now expecting Q2 RASM down 1-3% and CASM-Ex up 1-2% (the company has also increased its full-year CASM-Ex guide to ~flat). Weakness in the Q2 outlook has been largely attributed to soft booking trends following the recent Flight 1380 tragedy, which has reduced forecast RASM by ~1-2%.
