BGC Partners Turkey Strategy: " Looking for stocks on 3-year horizon"
Long-term institutional investors generally look for stock ideas with an investment horizon of at least three years. There have been numerous examples of successful long-term stock ideas among listed Turkish stocks such as Aselsan (’14-’17), BIM (’06-’11; ’18-’19), Erdemir (’05-’08; ’16-’18), Garanti Bank (’05-’07), Migros (’06-’08), THY(’06-’08; ’12-’14), Tupras (’15-’17) that have beaten BIST100 index by a wide margin regardless of the direction in the broader market. In fact, 21 out of BIST 30 members had outperformed BIST30 index by more than 100% during a 3-year period over the past 15 years. The median 3Y outperformance of these stocks stood at 200% with a US$ median return of 197%.
