BGC Partners: Latest Developments in Istanbul New Airport
The move to the new airport in Istanbul will be on December 29-31, while the official opening of the airport will be on October 29… In an interview, the CEO of IGA, the operator of the new airport, stated that official opening of the airport will be on October 29 and THY will shift a couple of its flights to the new airport, while the move of the airline to the new airport will be on December 29-31. Until this time, both Ataturk Airport and the new airport will be serving passenger flights. Code of the new airport will be “ISL†during October 29-December 31 period and then its code will change to “IST†with the closure of Ataturk Airport to passenger traffic. The CEO of IGA said that Ataturk Airport would operate for at least one year after December 31 serving only cargo flights.TAV Havalimanlari Holding is involved in the businesses related to the construction of terminal buildings, management and operation of terminals or airports.
