New Jersey American Water Investing $3.5 Million in Monmouth County

New Jersey American Water is investing over $3.5 million in new water mains in its Asbury Park, Neptune Township and Ocean Township service areas in Monmouth County. The approximate 23,000 feet of new pipe replaces water main that was installed as far back as the 1920s. The aging water lines will be replaced with ductile iron pipes.

New Jersey American Water crews are currently working along the following streets:

In Asbury Park

  • 4th Avenue, from Memorial Drive to Prospect Avenue in Asbury Park

In Neptune Township

  • Prospect Avenue, from Brighton Avenue to Oakdale Drive
  • Robbins Road, from Smock Avenue to Brighton Avenue
  • Glenmere Avenue, from Oakdale Drive to Forrest Drive
  • 10th Avenue, from Route 35 to East End
  • The entire length of the following: Elmwood Drive, Loraine Drive, McDermott Road and Schock Avenue

In Ocean Township

  • Brower Boulevard, from Interlaken Avenue to Logan Road
  • Laurel Avenue, from N. Wanamassa Drive to Sunset Avenue
  • Pinecrest Road, from Redmond Avenue to Roosevelt Avenue
  • Pinecrest Road, from Wells Avenue to Harnell Avenue
  • Harnell Avenue, from Woodcrest Road to Wells Avenue
  • The entire length of the following: Cliftwood Road, Elmwood Road, Oakhurst Road, Roosevelt Avenue, Wells Avenue, Woodcrest Road and Phoenix Parkway

"This significant improvement project is part of the company's multimillion dollar program to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that is reaching the end of its useful life to help ensure continued reliable service,” stated Kevin Keane, senior director of Operations, Coastal Region. "With the installation of the new water mains, customers should experience increased water flows for residences and fire protection, as well as continued improvement in reliability.”

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of April and final street restoration will be completed in the fall of 2017. New Jersey American Water values the safety of its workers and advises drivers and pedestrians to take caution in the vicinity of work sites.
