AXIS Insurance Promotes Robert Hartman to Chief Operating Officer

AXIS Insurance, a business segment of AXIS Capital Holdings Limited (NYSE:AXS), announced today the promotion of Robert Hartman to Chief Operating Officer, effective July 1, 2017. Mr. Hartman currently serves as Senior Vice President, Business Development, AXIS Insurance, and assumes the role following the recent promotion of former AXIS Insurance COO Pete Vogt to Deputy Chief Financial Officer of AXIS Capital.

Mr. Hartman brings nearly 15 years of management experience spanning strategy, operations and business development. He has been a senior leader within AXIS Insurance since joining the organization in November 2015. Mr. Hartman will report to Peter Wilson, CEO of AXIS Insurance, and will be based out of AXIS’ New York office.

“Rob is a talented and seasoned insurance executive who has a deep background in organizational, operational and financial strategy. During his tenure at AXIS, he has helped guide important strategic initiatives, including playing an integral role in the successful acquisition and integration of specialty aviation insurer and reinsurer Aviabel,” said Mr. Wilson. “He is a highly respected leader within our organization and someone who embodies AXIS’ values and culture, including our entrepreneurial mindset and performance-driven approach.”

“AXIS has made significant investments in our operations and infrastructure that will help further position our business for growth in today’s rapidly evolving marketplace. We’re only just beginning to tap into our potential as a leader in global specialty insurance,” said Mr. Hartman. “I look forward to continuing to work alongside my AXIS colleagues to further optimize our operations to be market responsive and strengthen strategic relationships with clients, distributors and risk transfer partners.”

Prior to AXIS, Mr. Hartman was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where he led the Pittsburgh office for five years and was a member of the firm’s Insurance Practice. During his more than 11 years at McKinsey, he counseled leading P&C insurance companies and their executive teams on corporate and business unit strategy, including distribution, underwriting, marketing, operations and claims. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Mr. Hartman served in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Flight Officer from 1994-2002. In 2004, he received an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Vermilion Compass: Weekly Equity Strategy

Major Low Likely in Place on S&P 500 In our 2/25/25 Compass, we discussed our expectation for near-term downside as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) displayed several bearish short-term developments.
