Constellation Names Baltimore Charities to Receive Donations as Part of 2017 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship

Constellation, an Exelon company, announced today that it will provide $500,000 in grants to eight Baltimore charities focused on education, youth development and health care as part of its sponsorship of this year’s Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, which will be held July 11-16 at Caves Valley Golf Club.

“Giving back to the communities we serve is one of Constellation’s most important responsibilities and an important part of the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship,” said Joseph Nigro, CEO of Constellation. “This year we are especially proud to be supporting organizations that are making a positive difference in our hometown of Baltimore.”

Through its sponsorship of the Senior Players Championship, Constellation has contributed $4.5 million since 2007 to nonprofit organizations located in the event’s host cities including Pittsburgh, Boston, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Exelon companies, together with Constellation, contributed more than $46 million to nonprofits in 2016, including $7.3 million in Maryland.

The 2017 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship grant recipients are listed below.

Family Tree: Maryland’s leading child abuse and neglect prevention center, providing education and support to more than 19,000 individuals each year to help raise healthy, productive children.

The First Tee of Greater Baltimore: A youth development organization that provides educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

Kennedy Krieger Institute: Serves individuals with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and musculoskeletal system through patient care, special education, research and professional training, and community initiatives.

Living Classrooms Foundation: Strengthens communities and inspires young people to achieve their potential through hands-on education and job training, using urban, natural, and maritime resources as "living classrooms."

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore: Provides a home away from home for seriously ill children and their families and helps to fund programs that directly improve the well-being of children.

Special Olympics Maryland: Provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities, creates opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and participate with their families, other athletes and community.

University of Maryland Eastern Shore: This 1890 land grant institution is a teaching, research and doctoral institution that nurtures and launches leaders in a student-centered environment, and is the only Historically Black College and University certified to offer the PGA Golf Management Degree Program.

“The most rewarding aspect of this Championship is being able to leave a charitable footprint in the Baltimore community,” said Joe Rotellini, executive director of the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship. “Thanks to our title sponsor, Constellation, our championship volunteers, and other efforts, we are able to support these wonderful causes."
