Exelon Contributes $150,000 to Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

Exelon Corporation and Constellation, its competitive retail and wholesale business, will together donate $150,000 to the American Red Cross to support residents of Houston as they recover from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.

Constellation Field, a minor league baseball stadium in Sugarland, Texas, was temporarily opened as a shelter for those displaced by the flooding. Evacuees are being transferred to another shelter location with additional support services and the field will now be used as a Red Cross training center. Company volunteers also plan to use the field as a staging area to assist with clean-up efforts in the weeks to come.

“We have all been disheartened to watch as the impact of Hurricane Harvey continues to devastate the Texas coastline,” said Chris Crane, Exelon president and CEO. “The thoughts and prayers of the Exelon family are with our colleagues, our customers and all of the people impacted by this tragedy. We will continue to provide resources and assistance where we can.”

Constellation has approximately 400 employees at its Houston offices, all of whom have been accounted for. Like so many in the region, several employees have either lost their homes or sustained significant damage. The Exelon Foundation will also provide grants to company employees whose homes were damaged or destroyed from the storm.

“Giving back to the communities we serve is one of our company’s most important responsibilities, and even more so during times like this,” said Joseph Nigro, CEO of Constellation. “The safety and security of our employees and their families is our highest priority. We’ll continue to come together to lend support to our colleagues and neighbors in the Houston area in the months ahead.”

Exelon’s six electric and gas utilities have offered to send crews to assist in restoration efforts and resources are standing by should assistance be requested.

The company also expects to provide additional financial support through the Exelon Foundation Matching Gifts program as employees make personal donations. Employee gifts are matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 per individual.

Constellation’s Houston-based call center is partially staffed and experiencing higher than normal call volume. The company asks customers for their patience as it prioritizes employee safety. Customers should report outages and service interruptions to their local utilities.

Vermilion Compass: Weekly Equity Strategy

S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 Testing Initial Support In last week's 2/25/25 Compass, we discussed our expectation for near-term downside as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) displayed several bearish short-term developments. We also said it likely means at least another 2-4 weeks of consolidation, and that if the S&P 500 remains below 6100 and 6150 resistances, do not be surprised if there is a test of the bottom of the range at either 5770-5850 or 5600-5670, where we would be buyers (though we need 5...
