Northern Trust announced today that Elisa Shevlin Rizzo has joined the company as Senior Fiduciary Officer and Senior Legal Counsel. Rizzo will be responsible for delivering fiduciary service, legal counsel and holistic advice to trust advisors, wealth advisors, advisory account managers and wealth strategists. She will report to John Hoffman, President of Greater New York, Wealth Management.

Before joining Northern Trust, Rizzo was with Fiduciary Trust Company International for seven years as Managing Director, Trust Counsel and, most recently, Director of Estate Administration. There, she developed and led the restructuring of Fiduciary Trust’s estate administration department, provided legal guidance and advice to trust officers, administrators and relationship managers on a variety of wealth planning, administration and fiduciary issues. She also oversaw the administration of complex estate arrangements and partnered with business development and marketing professionals on the cultivation of prospective clients and referral sources. Prior to joining Fiduciary Trust, she was with the law firms Cummings & Lockwood LLC and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP.
Rizzo received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1998 and her B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross. She has presented before audiences for various organizations, including the New York State Bar Association, the Family Office Exchange and the American Heart Association.
She is a member of the Board of Directors of Fordham University’s School of Law Alumni Association, the American Heart Association’s New York Heart Advisory Council and the Taxation Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Trust and Estates Section. She also served on the Estate and Gift Tax Committee of the New York City Bar Association and is a member of the Holy Cross Lawyers Association.
