Redfin Ranks the 10 Best Colleges for Football Tailgating

(NASDAQ: RDFN) — Ohio State (Columbus, Ohio), Alabama (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and Louisiana State (Baton Rouge, La.) are the best schools for college football tailgating according to the latest report by Redfin, the next-generation real estate brokerage. Redfin examined several factors that make tailgating a great experience for fans, including the Walk Score of each stadium, the success of the home team, the revenue of the football program and the stadium’s capacity. Redfin real estate agents played safety, weighing in on their local universities’ gameday experiences to ensure the list was accurate and there were no Hail Marys.

The Ohio State Buckeyes kicked off the list thanks to “the Shoe” holding more than 100,000 fans, having a team that generally wins at home and a football program that made $86.6 million in football revenue during 2016 to help afford premium stadium upgrades and other gameday amenities. Big 10 and SEC schools dominated the list, taking nine of 10 spots with the only holding being Oklahoma, which represents the Big 12. Each school that ranked in the top 10 also had a stadium that was located on campus.

The 10 best colleges for football tailgating are:

1 - Ohio State Buckeyes (Columbus, OH)

2 - Alabama Crimson Tide (Tuscaloosa, AL)

3 - Louisiana State University Tigers (Baton Rouge, LA)

4 - Oklahoma Sooners (Norman, OK)
