T-Mobile’s Endless Summer: Un-carrier Customers Get Free International High-Speed Data until 2017

T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) today announced it is extending and expanding its summer travel bonus. Starting October 1, the Un-carrier is giving customers unlimited high-speed data throughout South America and 19 European countries until 2017. T-Mobile postpaid customers get the fastest available data roaming speeds up to 4G LTE at no extra cost. And the best part? Those traveling to these countries and destinations don’t have to lift a finger to get these Un-carrier benefits. Your T-Mobile phone just works abroad—exactly like it should—for exactly $0 extra and zero effort for unlimited data and texting.

“THIS is what sets the Un-carrier apart. The carriers are always trying to take more from you. The Un-carrier is always trying to give more to you,” said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile. “I’ve always thought roaming limits were nuts. So when we found a way to expand our free summer data offer, I said ‘Hell yeah!’”

To celebrate summer and the Rio Games, T-Mobile gave postpaid customers free high-speed data throughout Europe this summer and in Brazil during the games and Paralympics. And Un-carrier customers made the most of it, using over 3x more data this July and August than they did last year. Now, T-Mobile is keeping the summer travel season alive by extending free unlimited high-speed data through the end of the year in all of South America and 19 countries in Europe.

Since the introduction of T-Mobile’s third iconic Un-carrier move Simple Global in 2013, T-Mobile customers have enjoyed unlimited 2G data, unlimited texting and flat-rate calling at just 20 cents a minute in over 140 countries and destinations. But now, T-Mobile customers will get a big Un-carrier upgrade to the fastest available data speeds up to 4G LTE throughout South America and 19 countries in Europe all the way until the end of 2016!

This couldn’t be more different from the carriers’ approach. Verizon and AT&T tax and toll everything you do with your phone as soon as you hit the border. If a Verizon customer were to just use their phone normally on a two-week trip to Italy, they could come home to a ridiculous Verizon bill for $2,850 in international roaming fees.

Countries and destinations where T-Mobile customers can keep on celebrating summer and enjoying unlimited high-speed data through December 31, 2016 include:

European Destinations:

Armenia, Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United Kingdom

South American Destinations:

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Easter Island, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, Venezuela

And of course, T-Mobile customers can always use their phones in Mexico and Canada like they do at home with Mobile without Borders, which is included in every Simple Choice North America and T-Mobile ONE plan at no extra charge.
