Travelers Commits Additional $100,000 to Hurricane Relief Efforts

The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) today announced that in light of the active and devastating storm season, it is increasing the $500,000 already committed for hurricane relief efforts by $100,000. These additional funds will primarily go to help those affected in Puerto Rico recover from Hurricane Maria, with contributions being made to Fondos Unidos de Puerto Rico and Team Rubicon.

“Hurricane Maria’s devastation is still being felt, and our hearts are with the people of Puerto Rico,” said Alan Schnitzer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Travelers. “We hope that by providing financial support to two organizations that are on the ground, tirelessly assisting in the ongoing relief efforts, we can help in reaching more of those impacted and in accelerating the recovery effort.”

Fondos Unidos de Puerto Rico is part of the United Way worldwide network. Based in San Juan, the nonprofit organization provides supplies, programs and assistance for a wide range of recipients, from students to senior citizens.

Team Rubicon specializes in disaster relief through the work of military veterans who partner with first responders and medical agencies to provide necessary aid.
