Egypt banks I Long on sound dynamics, solid credit cycle
Corporate credit is picking up, broad-based recovery still unfolding. Growth in consolidated loans accelerated to 12.8% during the 5-month period ending May 2015 vs. 14.4% for full-year 2014. Corporate lending has been gaining traction since early 2015, and we expect this trend to continue in the short term as capex plans continue to unfold through 2016. As per our macro forecasts, economic growth is expected to pick up in FY15/16 to 5.4% vs. 4.2% in FY14/15 largely driven by private investments, which also lends support to a solid corporate credit cycle.
