BioArctic (Buy, TP: SEK200.00) - Spinal cord project terminated
BioArctic reported late last night that the spinal cord project, SC0806, produced no meaningful clinical effect in the ongoing phase I/II trial. As a result, the company has decided to terminate the project and include no more patients in the trial. We see no drama from the company’s point of view as this has always been an extremely high-risk project. The termination and removal from our model have only had a marginal impact on the valuation. We reiterate our BUY and have trimmed our target price to SEK200 (206).BioArctic is a research-based biopharma company which is engaged in developing new innovative disease modifying treatments based in antibodies (immunotheraphy) for neurodegenerative disease (i.e. diseases where the nervous system degenerates) such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease and a treatment concept for complete spinal cord injuries (i.e. an injury where the spinal cord is completely broken). Co.'s operations are focused on research and development of new drugs for diseases and conditions with great medical need.
