Borregaard (Buy, TP: NOK250.00) - Cost-surge resilience confirmed
Q2 EBITDA of NOK445m beat our estimate and consensus by 9%. The beat was primarily driven by yet another strong quarter from the BioSolutions segment, which reported EBITDA of NOK305m, 15% above our estimate, proving its resilience to increasing energy and raw-material costs. We have raised our 2023–2024e EPS by 3% on the expected price increases in BioSolutions and 10% surcharge for BioMaterials highlighted in the company’s outlook. We continue to see significant growth opportunities for Borregaard and believe there is material upside potential in the shares. We reiterate our BUY and NOK250 target price.Borregaard is a supplier of specialized biochemicals for a global customer base. Co.'s main products are lignin-based products and specialty cellulose, but its product portfolio also extends to vanillin, bioethanol and fine chemicals. Co.'s products serve applications in a range of global end-markets including construction, agriculture, food and beverages, transportation and pharmaceuticals. Co.'s business model is closely linked to the integrated nature of its biorefinery in Norway, which utilizes the wood components to produce a portfolio of products. Co. operates in three business segments: Performance Chemicals, Specialty Cellulose and Other Businesses.
