What to expect from Q1 late sales

With limited backlog beyond this summer and high flexibility in spending, we expect a sharp decline in seismic revenues in 2020, likely already visible in Q1 late sales. In this report we delve into the monthly late sales progress, providing some additional input to the black-box late sales area. It usually takes one quarter for an oil price decline to be visible in late sales; however, with 50–60% of quarterly sales historically made in the final month, we see reasons to be cautious on Q1. Still, for the reporting season, we believe investor sentiment is more important than deviations, although we note muted market expectations.
