Danske Bank (Buy, TP: DKK199.00) - On course for ROE target uplift

With support from higher interest rates and cost-cutting initiatives to mitigate the inflationary pressure, we expect Danske Bank to present a through-the-cycle ROE target of >11% at its 7 June investor update. Moreover, with an end-Q1 CET1 ratio of 18.0% versus its >16% short-term target and its 13.7% fully phased-in requirement, we see scope for generous payouts and thus expect the dividend/buyback policy to be a key topic. We have raised our 2024–2025e EPS by ~2%, driven by higher trading income, and in turn edged up our target price to DKK199 (195). At a 2024e P/E of ~6.1x, we continue to find the valuation attractive and reiterate our BUY.
