SpareBank 1 Sørøst-Norge (Buy, TP: NOK68.00) - M&A and IRB focus reiterated

Adjusted for merger-related costs, SOON reported a Q1 ROE of 9.2%, supported by solid fee income, modest underlying cost inflation, and loan loss reversals, while NII and trading income were somewhat soft. While stating it needs time to fully integrate the recently merged banks, management continued to highlight its ambition to take part in potential structural changes in the sector, as well as its intention to apply to use IRB-A models. We have cut our target price to NOK68 (70) on estimate revisions but continue to find the valuation attractive at a 2023e P/E of 9.7x and reiterate our BUY.
