Ultimovacs announced today that it has received ‘fast track designation’ in Mesotelioma from the FDA. The designation is a result of the company requesting it from the FDA and the programme is designed to facilitate the development and expedite the review process of drugs aimed at ‘serious conditions’ with unmet medical need. While obtaining fast track is comparatively more easy than other FDA expedited programmes, as the addressed unmet medical need itself is a key factor, a fast track drug must show advantage over available therapy. The designation is encouraging for a subsequent study in mesothelioma and has clear benefits if the company chooses to pursue this indication further.Ultimovacs ASA Formerly known as Ultimovacs AS.
