Pakistan Equity Market: Weekly Review - Confidence in Interim Setup Drives the Index Up

KSE Index rose by 2.4%WoW (1,035pts) led by improved investors’ sentiments regarding interim political setup where they reposed confidence in Shamshad Akhtar’s abilities as Finance Minister due to successful stint as Governor of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in previous decade.
Trading activity also picked up where average daily traded volumes/value grew by 26%WoW/45%WoW to 169mn/USD78mn during the truncated week (equity market being closed on Friday).
Commercial banks, Cements and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies remained the major index movers contributing 558pts, 126pts and 108pts, respectively during the week.

Pakistan Equity Market: Weekly Review - Index Closes Above 41k Mark on Foreign Buying

KSE100 Index continued to rally into 5th straight week led by foreign buying interest, particularly in Banking stocks. The Index gained 848pts (2.1%) during the week, taking 2019TD return to 10.9%. Market activity also remained elevated during the week with average daily traded volumes inching up by 3.8%WoW to 175mn shares.
