Fernheizwerk Neukoelln is a provider of district heating in Neukoelln, a district of Berlin, Germany. Co.'s district heating system is a network of underground pipes that pump steam and hot water around the district. The steam and water are by-products from the generation of electricity at the local coal-fired cogeneration power station. Co.'s network is comprised of 74.9 kilometers of piping and 847 district heating stations. Buildings have access via basement delivery stations, from which hot water is pumped around radiators. The system is fully automated so that the level of heating provided is appropriate according to the atmospheric temperature.
