The company's primary business is to provide financial guarantee insurance to the U.S. public finance markets through its indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary, National Public Finance Guarantee Corporation (National). The company manages its businesses within three operating segments: U.S. public finance insurance, which is managed through National; corporate, which consists of general corporate activities, including general support services, such as management, legal, accounting, treasury, information technology, and insurance portfolio surveillancet; and international and structured finance insurance, which is conducted through MBIA Insurance Corporation.
