Genghis Cross-Asset Weekly Strategy - 15th June 2020

In this week's edition of the Weekly Cross-Asset Strategy Report, we give a recap of the equities, fixed income, currencies and derivatives markets' performance over the past week and our trading ideas for the coming week.

Our Momentum, Income and Value equities portfolios continue to outperform the benchmark NSE 20 index. Performance of the Momentum and Income portfolios was ahead of all the benchmark indices including the Nairobi All Share Index (NASI) and Zamara Index.

Genghis Trading Ideas for the week…
Equities
PROFIT TAKE on Safaricom at prices above KES 30 levels. The KES 30 level has been strong resistance levels especially under the pandemic with large volumes on the last trading day of last week failing to move price any higher than previous close (KES 30.45).

Fixed Income
BID 11.55% - 11.60% in FXD3/2019/5 and 12.45% - 12.60% in FXD4/2019/10 in the on-going June 2020 primary bond sale. High liquidity in the market will translate in positive subscription in the dual-tranche issue. Click here for our June primary bond outlook note.

Global Markets
SHORT GOLD (Take Profit at USD 1,668). We are looking at a potential gold short trade, on the daily time frame with a take profit of USD 1,668 and a stop-loss at USD 1,765. The short is encouraged by the recent consolidation in the commodity.

Derivatives
We are timing to enter a SHORT position on SAFARICOM September 2020 future contract with a Take Profit at 21.5 levels (technical analysis has a strong support at the 2019 low) and Stop Loss at 32.0 levels.
