United Cacao Limited SEZC (UCL) is the only commercial cocoa plantation to belisted on an international stock exchange and by the time planting has been
completed at 3,250 ha in 2016, it will be possibly the largest commercial cocoa
plantation in the world. As UCL matures into a productive cocoa plantation
circa 2020, the groupÂ’s cocoa beans will likely meet a grateful market. There is
mounting concern throughout the chocolate confectionery sector that the
West African producer region (73% of global production in 2013/14) will
struggle to keep pace with demand growth. Indeed leading brands and
processors have voiced their concerns that cocoa supply could be in deficit
before the end of this decade. Â
