J Ganes Consulting Softs Weekly February 1st 2018

This week I have been in China at the 1st Pu’er Coffee Forum and Expo and also had a chance to visit farms.  Coffee is certainly growing in prominence here, but I also kept hearing how sugarcane is becoming the crop of choice again.

Cotton was able to stabilize after stumbling once the panic buying had subsided last week as exports picked up pace.  Cocoa is holding at higher levels as the market focuses on future supplies and not the large past crop.  FCOJ prices continue to soften as inventories are not dropping.
