China Renewable Energy: Another upbeat year for renewables.

In line with the “Dual Carbon Goal”, the Chinese government continued to roll out supportive policies for the renewables sector in 1H22 and we expect robust new installations in 2022. Most of the listed renewables companies are still guiding robust production lines and capacity expansion targets after the 1Q22 results, although we saw some delays in solar projects as well as margin pressure on wind turbine manufacturers. Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology (2208 HK): 1Q22: Mixed results with margin pressure.

In 1Q22, Goldwind’s revenue declined 8.3% yoy but net profit grew 15.3% yoy, primarily driven by lower financial costs and investment gains. Management maintained its fullyear guidance of 15% WTG gross margin and 16GW shipment. Despite the downtrend in WTG prices, we expect Goldwind to outperform its peers thanks to product mix improvements, and we still expect the company to benefit from strong wind installation in China. Maintain BUY. Target price: HK$12.80.
