Another Tough Start to the Year for American Airlines
This time last year American Airlines’ management team was explaining its decision to unilaterally raise employee wages, a move that caused shares to drop sharply. The carrier is off to another tough start to the year, but this time the culprit is fuel. The 12% increase in fuel prices over the past two weeks prompted management to lower its 2018 outlook for EPS by 50 cents to a new midpoint of $5.50.
