ANZ Continues to Derisk Asian Business and Strengthen Capital Position; FVE Unchanged

Our AUD 29 fair value estimate for wide-moat-rated Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, or ANZ Bank, is unchanged following the sale of its 20% stake in Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank, or SRCB. The sale will increase ANZ Bank’s common equity Tier 1 capital ratio by around 40 basis points to 10% on a pro forma basis as at Sept. 30, 2016, well above its target of around 9.0% and above the regulatory minimum of 8%.
