Atos Pulls out of Gemalto Bid With Thales Emerging as Rival Bidder
Following Atos’ unsolicited proposal to acquire Gemalto for EUR 4.3 billion, the company has subsequently decided not to pursue the acquisition after Thales emerged as a rival bidder. Atos had proposed to buy Gemalto for EUR 46 per share. However, Thales came in over the top with a bid at EUR 51 (an 11% premium to Atos’ bid). As a result, Atos said it would stand by its financial discipline and leave the pursuit of Gemalto.
