Baker Hughes Reports 1Q Results

Baker Hughes reported results similar to its integrated peers Halliburton and Schlumberger, as challenged results from its international business continue to create headwinds that are offsetting the U.S. shale recovery. Even so, onshore U.S. strength was sufficient to drive sequential profit growth, and North America should strengthen considerably in the coming quarters as shale completions rapidly grow and Gulf of Mexico activity somewhat recovers from first-quarter seasonal weakness.
