Chinese Demographic Trends Support Our 2020 Interest Rate Outlook
Our medium-term interest rate forecasts are based on three primary factors: 1) the influence of advancing technology on demand for labor and capital, 2) global demographic trends, and 3) the state of the leverage cycle. Demographic trends, in particular, have contributed to the global “savings glutâ€--an increase in the supply of savings contributing to a decline in long-term real interest rates. Much of these savings came from China, where the working age population grew by 400 million between 1...Bank of America is a bank and a financial holding company.
