Bank of East Asia Divests Tricor Holdings; Shares Remain Overvalued

The Bank of East Asia disposed of its 75% stake in Tricor Holdings to private equity group Permira for HKD 4.9 billion. The corporate and investor services business was put up for sale by the bank in February this year and is in line with the bank's strategy in divesting its noncore operations. The bank also sold Tung Shing, a Hong Kong-based securities firm, and its wealth management arm in Taiwan, BEA Wealth Management, in April.
