Baxter Reports Another Strong Quarter Thanks to Consistent Renal and Fluid System Performance
Baxter reported respectable second-quarter results with 6% constant currency growth and adjusted operating margin of 11.4%, which is up considerably from 6.9% last year. Baxter’s renal and fluid systems segments remain key sources of strength for the company as ongoing measures to improve efficiency, beneficial product mix, and leaving less profitable tender markets should keep the firm’s margin expansion goals on track. These products are used by hospitals, kidney dialysis centers, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, doctors' offices and by patients at home under physician supervision. The company manages its business based on three geographic segments: Americas (North and South America), Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia-Pacific.
