Digesting acquisitions should improve BB&T's operating efficiency in a low-rate environment.

Narrow moat-rated BB&T turned in another steady quarter, with a return on average assets of 1.16% and a return on average tangible equity of 14.9%. While loan growth came in a bit low, BB&T cited risk management as a key reason for this.
