Bemis Closes Out a Difficult 2017; Conditions Should Improve in 2018
Bemis' fourth quarter remained soft, with limited traction in the form of sales growth or margin expansion throughout its operations. Consolidated sales ticked higher by just 1% during the year, while adjusted operating income fell by roughly 13% versus 2016, as margins came under pressure. While we expect conditions to improve for Bemis, especially as Brazil's economy stabilizes, the largest near-term benefit will be a reduced consolidated tax rate to roughly 24%, a consequence of the U.S. Tax ...Bemis is a manufacturer of packaging products.
