Capital One will benefit from a more stable U.S. consumer.

During the first quarter, narrow-moat-rated Capital One saw charge-offs in its domestic card portfolio increase to 5.14% from 4.66% in the fourth quarter of 2016. At the end of last year, we believed slower credit card growth would result in decelerating charge-offs, which led us to decrease our 2017 charge-off forecast to 4.75% from 5.25%, with management forecasting domestic charge-offs in the "mid-4s" for the full year.
