Carlyle Delivers Very Modest Improvements in First Quarter; Continues to Struggle
Carlyle’s first-quarter performance was not very good, but it did deliver a modest improvement over recent quarters, and we expect continued modest progress in the near term as it works through its challenges. We plan to maintain our narrow moat rating and $19 fair value estimate. Distributable earnings of $55 million were higher than the prior quarter’s $7 million due to a recovery in fee-related earnings but still about 60% lower than the $129 million from last year.
