CLP’s First-Quarter Statement In Line, 2% SoC Cut Posts Earnings Downside.
Narrow moat-rated CLP’s first-quarter statement held no surprises for us, as both the Hong Kong and the regional electricity utility businesses are running on track. The firm’s Hong Kong electricity output declined slightly by 1.8%, attributable to seasonal effect with lower heating and dehumidifying load at residential sector, and one less day due to the leap year in 2016. While the outlook for CLP’s Australian plants remains challenging, we see an improving outlook, given customer accounts and...CLP Holdings is an investment holding company.
