Contact Energy has a good quality portfolio of generation assets
Contact Energy reported fiscal 2016 underlying EBITDA of NZD 523 million, flat on last year and broadly in line with our forecast. Underlying profit was NZD 157 million, down 2% on last year and 5% below our forecast mostly because depreciation didn’t fall as much as expected. The relatively flat result was a function of lower mass market electricity sales volumes and prices offsetting increased geothermal generation and lower generation costs.
