Hawaiian Electric shareholders might finally see a dividend increase after 20 years.

We are reaffirming our narrow economic moat and stable moat trend ratings along with our $33 fair value estimate after Hawaiian Electric Industries initiated a 2018 earnings per share guidance range with a midpoint well above our estimate and the consensus estimate. Core EPS in 2017 came in at $1.65, slightly higher than our $1.63 estimate and the $1.64 consensus estimate.

The company and its operating utility subsidiaries, Hawaii Electric Light Company, Inc.and Maui Electric Company, Limited are regulated electric public utilities that provide essential electric service to Hawaii's population through the operation of five separate grids that serve communities on the islands of Oahu, Hawaii, and Maui, Lanai and Molokai.
