Brand advantaged InterContinental stands to see benefit from a lower U.S. corporate tax rate.
Narrow-moat InterContinental Hotels Group announced that the new 21% U.S. corporate rate recently passed by Congress would lower its effective tax level by a mid-single- to high-single-digit percentage starting in 2018. We had previously modeled for a U.S. corporate rate of 25% beginning in 2018, causing the company’s tax rate to drop roughly 6 percentage points from a low 30s rate in 2017.
