Kao Sees Strong 1Q; FVE Unchanged
Wide-moat Kao’s first-quarter performance was better than expected, with the operating margin improving to 11%, a faster pace of expansion that we were anticipating. The good performance means the company is well on track to meet our full-year margin assumption of 13%, and we reiterate our full-year operating income forecast of JPY 190 billion. We are keeping our fair value estimate of JPY 6,900 and think Kao remains attractive at these levels, especially in light of its market share gains in As...Kao is engaged in the manufacture and sale of consumer products, cosmetics and industrial chemical products. Co.'s principal products include cosmetics, soaps, facial cleansers, body cleansers, shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products, hair coloring agents, beverages, sanitary napkins, baby diapers, bath additives, oral care products, laundry detergents, fabric treatments, cleaning products, and commercial-use products. Co. also provides fatty alcohols, fatty amines, fatty acids, glycerin, commercial-use edible fats and oils, surfactant, plastics additives, toner and toner binder for copiers and printers, ink and colorants for ink-jet printers, fragrances and aroma chemicals.
