Kellogg's North American Sales Remain Soggy, but Margin Gains Persist; Shares Still a Bit Inflated

We don’t foresee a change to our $70 fair value for narrow-moat Kellogg, following mixed third-quarter results. Top-line gains proved elusive, as underlying sales ticked down 1%, reflecting a nearly 2% pullback in volume. This shortfall was particularly pronounced on its home turf, as North American sales slipped more than 2% due to lower volume, including a nearly 4% decline in U.S. Morning Foods (more than one fifth of total sales).
