Mastercard has solidified its competitive positioning.

Wide-moat Mastercard reported healthy net revenue growth of 12% in the first quarter of 2017, benefiting from its international exposure as emerging markets began to rebound. At the same time, expense growth was manageable: Operating expenses expanded 11% while rebates and incentives grew 23%. Cash return via repurchases helped boost earnings per share growth to 16%.
