Alunorte Outage Continues to Weigh on 2018 Results; Lowering Norsk Hydro FVE to NOK 37
Norsk Hydro released middling second-quarter results, as underlying companywide operating income of NOK 2.7 billion was down from NOK 2.9 billion in the prior-year period. This decrease was driven primarily by continued outages across the company’s Alunorte, Paragominas, and Albras facilities, each of which is running at 50% of capacity. Higher input costs provided an added headwind, which was offset by materially higher spot prices for alumina and aluminum.
