Pearson's continued focus on education and emerging markets should provide long-term growth drivers.

Narrow-moat Pearson reported a relatively weak set of first-half results, with headline growth down 7% (including a positive 4% foreign exchange impact) and operating profit down 72%. While the firm guided to year-over-year declines in both metrics, the magnitude of the declines was worse than expectations, which had run up with the share price over the past 12 months.
