PPG Industries announced it has withdrawn its proposal to acquire Akzo Nobel. According to Dutch law, PPG may not approach Akzo again for six months. We are maintaining our EUR 64 fair value estimate and no-moat rating for Akzo. Throughout this courtship, we held our Akzo fair value estimate to a stand-alone basis as we viewed a successful transaction as unlikely. This was due not to the merits of the potential tie-up, but rather Akzo management’s clear lack of interest in the deal and the stren...PPG Industries manufactures and distributes a range of paints, coatings and specialty materials.
