Qantas' Resumption of Dividends Is a Positive Sign
Qantas reported net profit after tax, or NPAT, for fiscal 2016 of AUD 1029 million, a AUD 472 million increase on 2015. Underlying NPBT was AUD 1,532 million, up AUD 557 million, or 57%, on 2015, in line with our AUD 1,554 million forecast. We estimate that underlying EPS was up 71% to AUD 0.54, in part reflecting the accretive capital return and share buyback completed during the year.
